    About Student Loan Calculators

Student Loan Calculators was created because navigating the UK student loan system is genuinely confusing — and most of the information available online is either wrong, outdated, or written for a different loan plan than the one you actually have.

We built this site for one reason: to give UK students and graduates clear, honest, and accurate tools to understand their loans.

    Who's Behind This Site

Student Loan Calculators was built by a UK finance graduate who — like millions of others — found the student loan system almost impossible to understand. After spending hours trying to work out when their own Plan 2 loan would be written off, and finding most online calculators either wrong or built for a different plan, they decided to build something better.

All calculators on this site are independently verified against HMRC and Student Loans Company figures. Thresholds are reviewed and updated every April when new rates are published. If you spot an error, please get in touch — accuracy is the whole point.

    Why We Built This

When Plan 5 launched in 2023, graduates faced a completely new set of repayment rules — a lower threshold, a longer write-off period, and a very different repayment experience than their peers on Plan 2. At the same time, millions of Plan 2 graduates were watching their interest rates spike during the inflation surge of 2022 to 2023.

    What We Offer

We offer free, regularly updated calculators for Plan 1, 2, 4, 5 and Postgraduate loans. Every calculator is based on the latest repayment thresholds and interest rates published by the Student Loans Company and HMRC.

    Our Commitment

We are not affiliated with the Student Loans Company, HMRC, or any UK university. We are an independent information resource. All calculators are provided for guidance purposes. For official information about your loan, always refer to your Student Loans Company account at gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan.

If you spot an error or have a suggestion, we would love to hear from you via our Contact page.
